Niz reči koji čini zasebnu celinu na stranici. U poeziji stihovi se uglavnom mere brojem stopa koje ih čine. Nazivi za različite dužine stiha su sledeći: monometar (jedna stopa), dimetar (dve stope), trimetar (tri stope), tetrametar (četiri stope), pentametar (pet stopa), heksametar (šest stopa), oktametar (osam stopa). Broj stopa u stihu, zajedno sa tipom stope, opisuje metriku datog stiha. Vidi i stopa, metar.
