Negative dihedral. The wings of an airplane, as they are viewed from the front, are not usually straight; they normally angle upward from the center. This upward angling is called positive dihedral, and it improves the stability of the airplane. However, when maneuverability is more important than stability, as it is on some military fighters and acrobatic airplanes, the wings are set with negative dihedral (cathedral). The wings angle downward from the center. Cathedral decreases the stability of an airplane and makes it more maneuverable.

Nitrocellulose dissolved in amyl acetate. Banana oil, so called because of its banana-like smell, was used as a dope on the fabric covering of some of the early airplanes.
Industry:Aviation
Nitrogen that has been changed into its liquid state by lowering its temperature. Nitrogen remains in its liquid state under standard atmospheric pressure when its temperature is kept at –195°C (78°K) or lower.
Industry:Aviation
Noise produced in radio equipment by electricity in the atmosphere.
Industry:Aviation
Nonreflecting. Nonspecular lacquer is used to finish the deck of an aircraft fuselage ahead of the cockpit so light reflections will not impair the pilot’s vision.
Industry:Aviation
Nonregulatory airspace surrounding designated Class C airspace airports in which ATC provides radar vectoring and sequencing on a full-time basis for all IFR and participating VFR aircraft. The normal radius is 20 nautical miles, with some variations based on site-specific requirements. The outer area extends outward from the primary Class C airspace airport and extends from the lower limits of radar/radio coverage up to the ceiling of the approach control’s delegated airspace, excluding the Class C charted area and other airspace as appropriate.

Normal, in geometry, means perpendicular. A line is normal to another line if it is perpendicular to it, and it is normal to a curve if it is perpendicular to a line tangent to the curve at the point the line intersects it.
Industry:Aviation
Normally, the airspace within a horizontal radius of five statute miles from the geographical center of any airport having an operating control tower. An airport traffic area extends upward from the surface to, but not including, an altitude of 3,000 feet above the elevation of the airport.

Not able to mix. Liquids are immiscible if they will not mix with each other. Water and oil are immiscible. If a bottle containing both water and oil is agitated, the oil and water will form an emulsion. But when the bottle sits for a while without further agitation, the oil and water will separate, the oil rising to the top of the water.
