Gu Kailai

Gu Kailai (born 15 November 1958) is a Chinese lawyer and businesswoman. She is the second wife of disgraced politician Bo Xilai.

She has escaped the death penalty for murdering British businessman Neil Heywood, a Chinese court announced on Monday the twentieth of August 2012. A spokesman for Hefei intermediate court said that although the "despicable" crime deserved the death sentence, it would be suspended for two years.

Ming Pao Daily News says the suspended death sentence means Gu's husband Bo Xilai has no chance of re-emerging onto the political scene.
